Getting Started

First, you should apply online (click Application), or apply directly by calling or e-mailing Passport USA (click Contact Us). If you meet the basic requirements for education, credentialing, clinical experience and English proficiency, you can get started now. Passport USA will explain the process in detail and you will provide us with some information on your interest and experience so we can be confident to meet your needs.

Although the specifics may vary depending upon your credentials and your geographic and occupational preferences, we give you all the details of the recruitment process.  Generally, the process works something like this:

1. Apply to Passport USA Click on Application
2. Send a detailed resume or curriculum vitae
3. Complete a skills checklist. Once we have a completed application and resume, we will send you a link to complete our skills checklist online.
4. After you have completed these three steps, one of our experienced recruiters will conduct an interview by phone.
5. Once you have been conditionally accepted and have executed a PassportUSA agreement including a Bond Agreement, we will begin providing financial assistance for the various steps in the process. 
6. Pass the TOEFL-IBT exam, unless you are exempt from or have already completed this requirement.  This is required for all applicants who are not from Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland, New Zealand and the UK.  You must receive a passing score on this exam in order to work as a therapist in America. 
7. Complete the credentialing process (NBCOT and/or CGFNS), licensure application and review program.
8. Pass the NBCOT license examination.  The NBCOT examination can be taken in several countries around the world including: The Philippines, Canada, Australia and others. You can locate a test center at: http://www.prometric.com/default.htm. If you are not in a location where the examination is available then Passport USA can assist you in preparing the documentation for the visa petition but the cost of the visa is paid by you.  Complete the Visa Credential Verification Certificate (VCVC) through NBCOT.
9. Select an assignment that is right for you. Your Passport USA recruiter will work with you to arrange interviews with client facilities in your preferred destination states. 
10. Apply for and Receive Your Visa. Once approved and issued through the appropriate U.S. Consulate, you will be ready to travel to the U.S. to begin your employment.
11. Passport USA and your assigned client facility will assist you in securing your accommodations, and acclimating to living and working in the United States of America!
