Each month, international nurses eagerly await the release of the U.S. Visa Bulletin, a critical resource that determines when they can move forward in their immigration journey. The July 2025 Visa Bulletin is here—and while it brings mixed news, there’s still reason to stay hopeful and proactive.
In this month’s update, Heather Burcham, Manager of Legal Assistants, provided a clear overview of the current EB-3 (Employment-Based, Third Preference) visa category priority dates:
- Philippines: No change—still at February 8, 2023
- Mexico and the Rest of World (ROW): Moved forward by 2 months to April 1, 2023
- India: Advanced by 1 week to April 22, 2013
- China: Advanced by 1 week to December 1, 2020
While movement is still slow for some countries, the forward progress is a positive sign for nurses across most regions.
What Can Nurses Do While Waiting?
Retrogression is a reality, but your place in line is secure. Now is the perfect time to stay focused and use this waiting period to your advantage. Here are a few suggestions:
- Finalize your documents: Make sure your paperwork is updated and complete.
- Study for required exams: Prepare for the English Proficiency exam and use this time to study and pass.
- Maintain bedside experience: Continue working in a clinical setting to meet eligibility requirements and keep your skills sharp.
- Save money for relocation: Aim to set aside $2,500–$3,000 if relocating alone, or up to $6,000–$8,000 if moving with dependents. These savings will help cover your first month’s rent, transportation, food, and other initial expenses.
