April 2025 Employee of the Month Nominees: Honoring International Nurses

Each month, Health Carousel International (HCI) honors internationally educated nurses who demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and a deep sense of purpose. For April 2025, we are proud to celebrate our inspiring nominees whose stories reflect professionalism, leadership, and the power of global nursing.

Shiela Marie C., RN

Current State: Georgia
Country of Origin: Philippines
Specialty: ER, PEDS, MB, L&D, MS

With 10 years of diverse nursing experience and a cum laude distinction from nursing school, Shiela is currently practicing in Papua New Guinea across ER, Pediatrics, and Mother-Baby/Postpartum care. She also holds Charge Nurse responsibilities in her current facility.

"I have a lot of friends and colleagues that have already been a part of Health Carousel International and all have good things to say."

Her biggest lesson so far: patient care never ends, only your shift does.

"At the end of the day, you go home to your family, not to other people. Care for yourself, too."

Kristine is a BSN-trained nurse with over nine years of experience in Emergency and Medical-Surgical nursing. Her strong foundation in bedside care and teamwork makes her a valuable asset to any care team.

She considers even the nomination a reward and sees recognition as a reflection of consistent effort and professional presence.

Danilo is a BSN-trained nurse with nearly two years of Medical-Surgical experience and two years of prior work as a nurse aide in the US. He also maintains a New York nursing license and is BLS certified.

"When I applied to Health Carousel, they promised they’d help me become a nurse in America, and they kept their word."

He believes kindness and a genuine desire to care can soften even the toughest patient encounters.

With over 20 years of nursing experience, Selvi brings exceptional depth in Mother-Baby, Pediatrics, and Long-Term Care. She has served as both a Nurse Preceptor and Charge Nurse and is known for her communication and clinical teaching skills.

John David brings over 10 years of experience, including work in the Operating Room and Orthopedics. A colleague introduced him to HCI, and further research confirmed it was the right fit.

"Winning would be an honor, and I hope it inspires others to keep going."

He encourages other nurses to remain curious and open to new learning for long-term fulfillment.

I Chia is a BSN-prepared nurse with 14 years of experience, including Dialysis, CVICU, Medical-Surgical, and Labor & Delivery. For the past seven years, she has specialized in dialysis and holds certifications in ACLS, BLS-I, Hemodialysis Reviewal, and ETTC.

Shayla is a BSN-trained nurse with five years of experience, working across Medical-Surgical, Emergency, and Pediatric settings. She currently serves as a Charge Nurse in a 50-bed facility and has completed both BLS and IV Therapy training.
