Florence Jane G. and Kathreen Niña Q. Named as June 2025 Employees of the Month
July 2, 2025

At Health Carousel International (HCI), we are honored to celebrate healthcare professionals who embody compassion, resilience, and the courage to serve far from home. This month’s winners, Florence and Kathreen Niña, remind us that great nursing is not only measured by skill, but by the humanity and empathy that transform patient care.

Florence Jane G., RN
Florence began her journey in the Philippines with a strong dedication to maternal care. With more than four years of Mother-Baby experience, she has guided mothers through some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. From managing pre-eclampsia and gestational diabetes to serving as a Charge Nurse, her work has always balanced technical excellence with compassion. Today, she brings this expertise to her role in Maryland, where her patients feel not just cared for, but genuinely understood.
She credits HCI with opening the door to her American dream, one that began with hope and testimonies she saw from nurses before her. What Florence has learned along the way is that compassion is more than a professional skill—it is a virtue that defines the very heart of nursing. She believes that dignity and kindness must be given to every patient, regardless of their background, and especially to new mothers navigating exhaustion and vulnerability.
“Everyone can be a nurse, but not everyone can be the compassionate nurse every patient deserves.”
For Florence, winning this award is not about recognition alone. It represents the journey of a girl from the Philippines with a big dream, who worked hard to make it in America while staying true to her values of empathy and humanity.

Kathreen Niña Q., RN
Kathreen Niña’s path to the US was marked by persistence and patience. When other agencies overlooked her, HCI took the time to listen, support her aspirations, and walk with her through the process of becoming a USRN. That commitment continues to inspire her as she builds her nursing career in Ohio across obstetrics, emergency care, triage, and delivery room nursing.
Her greatest lesson since arriving in the US is that patients need more than procedures or knowledge—they need a nurse who will listen, empathize, and acknowledge the complexity of their emotions. She explains that sometimes the most healing act is to simply assure patients that it is okay to feel sadness, fear, or frustration.
“More than skills or knowledge, patients need someone to listen and to let them know it is okay to feel what they feel.”
For Kathreen Niña, even being nominated for Employee of the Month was already a victory. Winning the award affirms her contributions not only as a clinician but as someone who makes work lighter and more meaningful for the people around her. She credits her colleagues for creating an environment of support, joy, and shared purpose, which fuels her passion for the profession.
Celebrating Florence and Kathreen Niña
Florence and Kathreen Niña exemplify what it means to thrive as international nurses. Their journeys reflect perseverance, humility, and the power of compassion in patient care. At HCI, we are proud to honor their dedication and to walk alongside them as they continue to grow, inspire, and transform lives across the US.
