Shayla Lorraine S. and Lilian S. Named April 2025 Employees of the Month

Health Carousel International proudly recognizes Shayla Lorraine S., RN and Lilian S., RN as our April 2025 Employees of the Month. These outstanding nurses embody courage, growth, and purpose. Their journeys serve as reminders that finding your footing in a new healthcare system takes more than clinical skill—it takes heart.

Shayla Lorraine S., RN

Originally from the Philippines and now practicing in Iowa, Shayla is a BSN-trained nurse with five years of experience in Medical-Surgical, Emergency, and Pediatric care. She currently serves as a Charge Nurse in a 50-bed facility where she is known for her commitment to high-quality care, leadership in critical moments, and compassion toward patients and peers. She also holds certifications in BLS and IV Therapy training.

Shayla’s transition to the US wasn’t easy. "It was stressful, full of anxiety and fear," she admits.

But through it all, she found reassurance in the support HCI consistently provided.

"They prepared me, guided me, and supported me all the way. I never felt alone."

One encounter with a patient helped shift her mindset permanently. The patient reminded her to focus on the good, no matter how small.

"Even a good cup of coffee on the way to work can reset your day."

That advice taught Shayla to reframe stress, look for daily victories, and lean into gratitude. She carries that with her into every shift.

"This award gives me pride, confidence, and motivation to keep going. It reminds me that hard work never goes unnoticed."

Lilian S., RN

Lilian, also originally from the Philippines, now works in Georgia as a BSN-prepared nurse with one year of experience in the Medical-Surgical unit. She serves as a Charge Nurse and holds certifications in Basic Life Support and IV Therapy. Her clinical skills are matched by a deeply human approach to care, shaped by humility, determination, and a desire to grow.

"I was a fresh nursing graduate, holding onto the American Dream but unsure where to start. Then I came across Health Carousel International."

She describes that decision to join HCI as life-changing. Now in the US, she’s learning what it means to truly practice as a nurse.

"There are tiring days. But here, your hard work pays off. You get to apply your skills, grow professionally, and find your path."

Lilian's favorite lesson is simple: fulfillment comes from purpose. And her purpose has always been to help others.

"Winning this award reminds me that even on the hardest days, what I do matters. It gives me strength to keep showing up."
