US Demand for Medical Technologists Reaches Boiling Point

If the demand for healthcare professionals is heating up in the USA, then the demand for medical technologists has reached the boiling point. There's a real medical technologist shortage. Shown below are five reasons why.

Five Reasons for the Medical Technologist Shortage

  1. The U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 11 percent growth from 2018 to 2028, much faster than the average for all occupations.
  2. The U.S. programs preparing tomorrow's laboratory workforce train only about half of what is needed.
  3. Fewer than 5,000 individuals are graduating each year from accredited training programs.
  4. According to the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), the number of accredited clinical laboratory technology programs has steadily declined.
  5. Approximately 40 percent of the laboratory workforce is within ten years of retirement.

Here at PassportUSA we knew the U.S. MT staffing shortage was coming. Our sales force heard it from our hospital clients a couple years back. But the hospitals just weren't feeling enough pain of being short-staffed -- until now. Today, client requests for medical technologists have started pouring in and the U.S. hospitals can no longer deny their need for well-trained laboratory professionals.

Fortunately, we've recruited almost 100 ASCPi-certified MTs that are ready for interview and selection with experience in a variety of lab sections including blood bank, chemistry, hematology, micro and more.
