There is also an Ace Hardware and Dollar General for general merchandise, plus a Safeway for groceries. The closest city to Lakeview is Altamont, Oregon, and Klamath Falls, Oregon, both are a little over an hour away and offer more stores like Target. Lakeview isn’t far from the Fremont-Winema National Forest, a 2.3 million-acre forest with a variety of outdoor recreation options. In the summer, it’s a popular destination for fishing, backpacking, camping, boating, and hiking, as well as just being a nice place for a drive. In the colder months, it’s great for cross-country skiing, downhill skiing, and other winter sports. The city also offers a public school in the warmer months.
