Health Carousel International’s Employee of the Month Nominees – January 2026

At Health Carousel International (HCI), we begin the year by recognizing nurses whose dedication, curiosity, and commitment to growth set the tone for excellence in patient care. The January 2026 Employee of the Month nominees reflect what it means to remain open to learning, embrace change, and lead with professionalism and heart.

Joseph C., RN

Current State: Nebraska
Country of Origin: Philippines
Specialty: MS, ICU

Joseph was drawn to HCI after seeing many of his former colleagues from the Philippines grow professionally through the organization. Their journeys inspired him to pursue the same path, knowing that HCI values career development and professionalism in nursing practice.

Since working in the US, Joseph has learned to navigate more complex challenges, particularly in communication and relationship-building with patients and their families. These experiences have strengthened his confidence and reinforced his passion for nursing as both a profession and a personal calling.

“This recognition would help sustain my love for nursing and push me to be better, not just as a nurse, but as a person.”

For Joseph, being nominated represents encouragement to continue growing and serving with integrity.

Myrthle H., RN

Current State: North Carolina
Country of Origin: Bahamas
Specialty: MS

Myrthle’s nursing journey has been defined by curiosity, adaptability, and an eagerness to learn. She was drawn to HCI because of its Clinical Residency Program, which offered her the opportunity to step into a new area of nursing with structured training and mentorship. After years of exploring different specialties, she found that HCI aligned closely with her professional goals and values.

Working in the US deepened Myrthle’s belief that education is a lifelong process. She has learned not only new procedures and skills, but also the importance of community, support, and clear communication in a multicultural environment. Learning to ask for help and build strong professional relationships has been a meaningful part of her growth.

“Growth and education are lifelong processes, especially in a field that is constantly evolving.”

Her nomination reflects her intentional approach to excellence and her belief that meaningful contributions, no matter how quiet, matter.

Shayla Lorraine S., RN

Current State: Iowa
Country of Origin: Philippines
Specialty: MS, ER, Peds

Shayla’s journey with HCI marked a turning point in how she viewed her future in nursing. After several years working in the US, she believed she had reached a place of contentment, until HCI presented her with new opportunities that challenged her to push further and explore new paths.

Through her experiences, Shayla has learned that growth is constant and requires openness. She believes that every phase of life offers lessons, and that staying receptive prevents stagnation and fuels professional wisdom.

“Opportunities for growth surround us. We just need to be open to them.”

Being nominated is a morale boost for Shayla and a reminder that excellence in nursing is rooted in learning, caring, and setting an example for others.

Honoring Our January Nominees

Joseph, Myrthle, and Shayla represent the spirit of growth and possibility that defines the start of a new year. Their stories reflect professionalism, resilience, and a shared commitment to becoming better nurses and better caregivers with every experience.

At HCI, we are proud to recognize their dedication and the meaningful impact they continue to make in healthcare across the US.
