Irene may be small but it's located in the area of a few larger cities so shopping and entertainment aren't hard to find. Yankton, South Dakota, just 23 minutes away, is home to Walmart and has a charming shopping district called The Meridian District. The city is also home to the state-of-the-art Sioux City Public Museum, an award-winning museum that features local and regional history through interactive displays and exhibits. The Mead Cultural Education Center, located in Yankton, South Dakota, is housed in a historic hospital that's now a museum. Inside the Mead are exhibits on transportation for children, the hospital history, and local culture. The Mead also hosts several traveling and summer exhibits each year.

There are so many options for fun in the area. Just 32 miles away in Sioux Falls, South Dakota is the Wild Water West waterpark.
