Honolulu has an excellent public transportation system that makes getting around the area easy. TheBus is the local bus system and features more than 20 routes for various destinations in Honolulu, including downtown. Bikeshare is also available and offers one-time rental fees or unlimited rides, and the city encourages commuting by offering incentives to vanshares. To make traveling around the city more efficient, Honolulu is currently underway on a new light rail system and expects to finish the 20-mile system by 2026.
