The district features 2 National Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence, and Jefferson City High is ranked 140th in Missouri by U.S. News and World Report’s Best U.S. High Schools.  Offering an innovative program known as Academies, students at Jefferson City High School can choose an academy, a program of study with courses concentrated around a certain subject. Each academy features small learning communities for collaborative education. Students take their classes together to encourage valuable relationships. The academies also include college and career-related instruction to emphasize real-world application of learned skills. The academies are available in three subjects: Agriculture, Engineering, Trade & Industrial, Health, Consumer & Public Services Academy, and Communication, Arts & Business Academy. Students not interested in a certain academy may opt for a traditional path with general coursework at the high school level.
