A lot of you may not know about the Global Scholarship Alliance (GSA) program. This existed before Health Carousel was even created!
The GSA program was introduced to the nursing community on August 1, 2001, by Todd Bol, Sister Remy, Connie dela Cruz, and Nyra Colinares. The program offered Filipino nurses the opportunity to go to the U.S. and earn a Master's degree in Nursing, and work part-time in hospitals as staff nurses. At the end of the program, nurses were required to go back to the Philippines to share their knowledge as clinical instructors and nurse leaders. This program enjoyed the support of nursing leaders in the Philippines, the U.S. embassy, the Department of Health (DOH) through Dr. Jaime Galvez-Tan, and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).These are some throwback photos of the GSA
If you know of any GSA candidates that completed the program, then please inform them about our PassportUSA Alumni Network on Facebook! They are welcome as PassportUSA alumni too.
