Greenville has a diverse collection of entertainment destinations. A new theatre group was formed in 2018 and helped expand the city’s entertainment options. The group will present family-friendly plays at the American Farm Heritage Museum. The Museum itself one of the popular things to do in Greenville and features a look at the rural heritage of the area. It’s home to the Hill’s Fort and one of the largest collection of military vehicles in the county. Shows of living history with recreations and reenactments are offered by the Museum throughout the year along with various family-friendly events. The Richard W. Bock Sculpture Museum is an amazing collection of over 300 pieces of sculpture by Richard Bock, letters by Frank Lloyd Wright, and more. Visiting is available by appointment only, and this museum has been called a gem of South Illinois. The DeMoulin Museum is a wacky museum centered around pranks and lodge initiation devices with hand-crafted machinery built by the DeMoulins. Today the DeMoulins are known for being the largest manufacturer of band uniforms in the country, but this is a charming museum that reflects their heritage. It’s popular with school field trips and features hands-on interaction with some of the machines. The Hoiles-Davis Museum features local Bond County history, and will reopen in 2019-2020 at a new piece of property. For movies, you can’t miss the Globe Theatre. It’s the place to see all of the newest Hollywood releases and inside a restored 1939 building. Families also like to visit the Marcoot Jersey Creamery, a local dairy farm with tours and a country store. Visitors can see the dairy process up close by watching workers make cheese, touring a cow barn, sampling cheese, and more.

There’s plenty of parks and outdoor recreation options in Greenville. The Nature Preserve is a  beautiful spot with a hiking trail that winds around a lake. Bauer Memorial Garden features a picnic area, garden, and some lovely shaded trees to read or relax under, while Breehne Park holds a playground. Jaycee Park has covered shelters, baseball fields, a playground, and plenty of space to play. Patriot’s Park is prime for fishing, disc golf, and other activities. There’s also a public pool, baby pool, and splash paid within the city.
