Hospital Overview

Our client, Wellpath, provides healthcare within a correctional facility in Warren, Maine. You may not be familiar with the role of nurses in correctional healthcare, but the opportunity here is similar to working in a long-term care facility or a nursing home. Duties involve primarily medication administration, acute care assessment, wound care and other general nursing tasks. All care is performed in a safe and secure facility.  In fact, the organization has never had an incident in over 20 years and the prisoners view the nurses as their allies who are invested in their care.

Wellpath is on a path to transform correctional healthcare. They need great, mission-driven nurses to make this happen.

You may be a great fit for this position and not even know it. Here's why...

As a citizen of a developing country, you may have seen firsthand the devastating impact that poor healthcare access and quality of care can have on the less-fortunate people of your home country. Likewise, if you accept a position working at Wellpath, most of the patients you will care for have not had access to quality healthcare despite being in one of the wealthiest countries in the world. YOU will be able to make a difference in their lives as they make the journey back to mental and physical health. Most patients will hold you in high-regard and with respect as you improve their lives.

  • Do you believe in and wish to contribute to the mission of providing high-quality, compassionate care for some of the most under-served citizens?
  • Would you be proud to answer the call to serve those who need it most?

Is correctional nursing right for everyone? No. But, it's not likely what you think it is. Here is a great article appearing in Minority Nurse that gives an overview. A lot of what is in this article is correct, but the Wellpath facility at which you will work is clean, modern, bright, and has a stellar track record for safety.
