DAISY International Advocate: Award Winners Worldwide

Health Carousel's commitment to the recognition of nurse excellence is exemplified in the PassportUSA Light the Way initiative. Partnering with the DAISY foundation, PassportUSA recently founded the DAISY International Advocate program of nurse recognition. This first of its kind program sponsors DAISY Awards across the globe for compassionate nurses and inspiring faculty in developing countries where meaningful recognition has been a challenge to achieve. The Light the Way initiative represents Health Carousel’s steadfast commitment to ethical, sustainable recruitment and investment in healthcare talent within the US and across the globe.

Shown below are the most recent recipients of DAISY Awards sponsored by PassportUSA through our DAISY Foundation International Advocacy partnership.

Beatrice Amuge, BSN, RN

Ms. Amuge Beatrice is a dedicated long-serving nurse administrator a team builder, a worker with excellent governance skills and abilities. She has contributed to the health care delivery at the national hospital and other health facilities within the country. She is a self-motivated and outstanding leader who has contributed a lot to championing preventive measures against COVID-19. She is always punctual on duty, smartly dressed in her professional uniform, and up to date with her continuous medical education.

 

Annet Birungi, BSN, RN

Birungi Annet is an innovative nurse who introduced an app that can locate the patient and link with the nurse. She is a nurse with a passion for the nurse's welfare. She offers patient and family-centered care and is always willing to learn.

 

Doris Okudinia, EN

Doris is a committed and dedicated nurse with a passion for the sick. She adheres to her professional calling and willing to go the extra mile. She is a precious gift to Uganda, a patriotic and professional nurse, who adheres to her professional ethics and oath to save lives and alleviate suffering. She is a brave and smart, nurse who transported a patient in a wheelchair for a distance of more than 3 KM when there was a total lockdown in Uganda due to COVID19. She saw the suffering the patient was going through and felt the patient could benefit from a higher health facility.

Roselyn Mutonyi Waimbwa, RN

Roselyn is a nurse who ensures that tasks and duties are done correctly, professionally, and as per guidelines. She organized the team to receive the 1st COVID-19 patient. She made sure that two wards were created, one for the confirmed COVID patients and the other for suspected cases. She is actively participating in the care of COVID-19 patients.

 

Mary Najjumba, RN

Mary is a young nurse advocate who is selflessly supporting the Nursing Now campaign. She is the editor of nurse newsletters and has done a lot to promote the image of nursing in Uganda and beyond.

 

Cecilia Adong, RM

Cecilia is a self-motivated nurse who has worked in a hard-to-reach rural hospital for 15 years and dedicated to her service. She is always punctual on duty, attends CME, and has improved maternal and child health services in the facility.
