Corpus Christi Independent Schools (CCISD) runs the public schools in the city. There are 37 elementary schools, 14 middle schools, and 11 high schools in the district. A well-regarded school district, CCISD offers a range of academic programs for students, including dual-credit, AP courses, and CTE certifications. There are magnet schools available in the district. CCISD includes a nationally-recognized high school, Collegiate High School with a Bronze recognition from U.S. News and World Report. Free full-day preschool is available on 23 campuses in the district as well plus all campuses offer free breakfast and lunch. The district features a student-teacher rate of 17 to 1 and a graduation rate of nearly 90%.
